Paper 3: Verbal Skills

The Medway Test comprises the following assessments:

· Paper 1: English Writing Task

This section, focused on creative writing, evaluates various skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Marks are awarded for the effective use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organization, cohesion, and sentence structure.

· Paper 2: Mathematics & NVR (with elements of Spatial Reasoning)

Mathematics questions gauge students' mathematical proficiency, problem-solving capabilities, and logical reasoning. Additionally, the paper includes multiple timed subsections assessing Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) and Spatial Reasoning. NVR questions test students' aptitude for solving problems through visual and abstract reasoning, while Spatial Reasoning evaluates spatial awareness, mental rotation, visualization, and problem-solving skills.

· Paper 3: Verbal Skills

The Verbal Reasoning sections assess a child's ability to recognize rules and relationships between words and letters, along with critical thinking and information analysis skills. This section also includes comprehension and vocabulary questions.

All papers are created by GL Assessment and are designed to evaluate and select the top 23% of the cohort each year.
