Beths Grammar School, a prestigious educational facility with a rich history, is situated in Bexley, a suburb in southeast London. Established in 1945, the school has been a beacon of academic excellence, continually fostering the growth and development of well-rounded individuals. As a selective academy, it caters to boys aged 11 to 18 and features a mixed Sixth Form that admits both boys and girls.

Core subjects such as English, mathematics, and science are offered alongside a wide range of additional subjects, including modern foreign languages.     


The global aspect provided through the focus on language expertise holds significant importance in today’s interconnected society. The school offers Mandarin Chinese, French, German, and Spanish and regularly presents intercultural opportunities, including visits to China. In May 2010, it became a “Confucius Classroom” – a hub school for Mandarin Chinese.     


Beths Grammar School provides pupils with opportunities for various extracurricular pursuits during lunch breaks and after school hours, ensuring a suitable activity for each individual’s interests. Test 1 focuses on Verbal Skills, including Comprehension, Technical English & SPAG, and Verbal Reasoning.

Test 2 assesses Mathematics & Non-Verbal Reasoning, incorporating elements of Spatial Reasoning.

The Beths Grammar School assessment comprises two Kent 11 Plus multiple-choice papers, each with an approximate duration of 50 minutes.


⇒ Test 1: Verbal Skills – Comprehension, Technical English & SPAG, Verbal Reasoning

This section is divided into two parts. The paper commences with a reading passage, succeeded by a series of comprehension questions. Subsequently, there are questions assessing two of the following three topics: Spelling, Punctuation, and Sentence Completion. The subsequent Verbal Reasoning section gauges your child's ability to recognize rules and relationships between words and letters.


⇒ Test 2: Mathematics & Non-Verbal Reasoning (incorporating elements of Spatial Reasoning)

This section is also split into two parts. Section 1 encompasses Mathematics questions that evaluate students' mathematical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and logical reasoning. Section 2 consists of multiple timed subsections assessing Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) and Spatial Reasoning. NVR questions evaluate students' proficiency in solving problems using visual and abstract reasoning, while Spatial Reasoning examines spatial awareness, mental rotation, visualization, and problem-solving skills.

Parents will receive results indicating whether their son has been classified as selective or non-selective directly from Bexley LA within four weeks of the test.
